St. Joan of Arc (1412-1431)
Joan was a teenage mystic who received visions urging her to fight for France’s freedom from English rule. She led troops in battle and helped Charles VII take the throne before she was captured. She was falsely condemned to death as a heretic, and burned at the stake.
